| Our band
was founded in 1990 by front man Robert Pratt, and for the first few
years we were known as "the Palmetto Bugs". We started out playing for
a few functions at Summerville Presbyterian Church. Eventually we grew
into bigger gigs at local parties and clubs, and established a local
following. Several years ago, we changed our name to "the Palmetto
Dance Band", partially to avoid a name conflict with another band, but
mainly because we wanted a name that better represented our music.
Since then, we've played events, weddings, and parties locally at
Charleston, Kiawah Island, Folly Beach, Summerville and locations as
far away as Greenville, SC and Savannah, Georgia.
